Citadel Base Averland Sunset is a Base paint from Games Workshop — a warm, vivid yellow-orange that provides the strongest yellow coverage of any paint in the Citadel Base range, and serves as the foundation for Imperial Fists Space Marine chapter armour in the official Citadel painting system. Yellow is notoriously difficult to achieve opacity with in a single coat from standard thin paints, but Averland Sunset is specifically formulated to provide near-solid yellow coverage over grey primer in one application, making it the correct starting point for any yellow colour scheme. Named for Averland, the Empire province known for its yellow heraldry.
Use as the base coat for Imperial Fists and Crimson Fists yellow power armour, for Bad Moons Ork clan yellow armour panels, for Adepta Sororitas Order of Our Martyred Lady gold-to-yellow accent detail, for Skaven Plague Monk and Clan Pestilens yellow robe sections, and for any model where a warm, vivid yellow is the target colour. Layer with Yriel Yellow and highlight with Flash Gitz Yellow for the standard Imperial Fists recipe; use Casandora Yellow Contrast or wash with Seraphim Sepia for the shaded, aged yellow variant. Apply over grey or white primer for maximum yellow brightness.
