Citadel Base Xv-88 is a Base paint from Games Workshop - a khaki-tan in the sandy, warm desert colour register that provides the foundation for numerous desert-scheme painting recipes in the Citadel system. The XV-88 designation references T'au Battlesuit naming conventions, and the colour sits at the warm end of tan, closer to Zandri Dust in the lighter range. It provides solid one-coat coverage over grey or brown primer and is the starting point for the standard Games Workshop T'au desert Sept colour scheme.
Use as the base coat for T'au sept markings and Battlesuit panels in the standard Citadel T'au desert colour scheme (XV-88 → Tau Light Ochre → Ushabti Bone highlights), for Astra Militarum desert regiment vehicles including Leman Russ Executioners and Chimeras in Tallarn or Death Korps of Krieg desert camouflage, for sandy terrain basing when applied over a flat surface before drybrushing, and for any model where warm sandy tan suits the colour. Also used as a bone alternative for pale Chaos model armour in lighter schemes. Applies directly over grey or brown primer.
