Citadel Layer Russ Grey is a medium, cool blue-grey named for Leman Russ, the great wolf Primarch of the Space Wolves Legion — and it is the essential mid-tone in the Space Wolves grey armour workflow. Applied after The Fang base coat and Nuln Oil wash, it establishes the distinctive grey-blue tone that makes Space Wolves look different from standard grey Space Marines, before Fenrisian Grey adds the final pale highlights.

Apply to the raised armour surfaces of Space Wolves Space Marines after washing, working the colour across the mid-panels and forward-facing surfaces before adding Fenrisian Grey at the very highest points. Works for any cold-grey armour scheme beyond Space Wolves, including Grey Knights under Nuln Oil in some approaches, Deathwatch Kill Team armour accents, and cold-climate warrior miniatures across any range where a cool, icy grey-blue mid-tone is appropriate.
