Tyranids Barbgaunts are a Termagant variant - small Tyranid organisms specifically evolved to carry a barblauncher bio-weapon that fires barbed spines in a low arc, providing the Tyranid swarm with indirect fire capability at a cost far below that of a Hive Guard. This plastic kit assembles five Barbgaunts with their characteristic barrel-like launcher symbiont fused to their bodies, in the small hunched posture of Termagant-grade Tyranid organisms. They were introduced alongside the updated Tyranid range to fill a specific indirect fire role.
On the tabletop Barbgaunts fire indirectly without requiring line of sight, targeting enemy units hiding behind terrain - a cheap source of out-of-sight shooting that complements the Tyranid army's otherwise direct-fire shooting options.
Supplied on 28mm Citadel round bases. Five miniatures per kit. Requires assembly and painting.
